The 2022 "Battle of the Sommeliers" featured 4 sommeliers, each from a different area of the wine world. The sommeliers were Richard King (restaurateur and owner of Ellerbe's Fine Foods), Weston Eidson (vintner and owner of Montagu Wines and Silver Ghost Cellars), Claire Gillette (Director of wine sales at Classic Wine) and Kristi Mayfield (Founder and wine educator for DomSom, the Domestic Sommelier Program).
Each Sommelier worked with the Fort Worth Club's Executive Chef Tim Prefontaine (American Culinary Foundation's 2014 Chef of the Year) to perfectly pair a selected wine with one of the courses of the evening. Congradulations to the winner of the competition, Kristi Mayfield, who inventively paired the 1988 Casa Manoel Carcavelos Quinta dos Pesos with the bread pudding topped with caramel and Manchego creme anglaise!
